Aaron,
I was in a season in my life that was searching. When I moved from Seattle to Chicago, I was looking for a place of faith that was simply teaching but had a community as well. When I read about The Line, I reached out and was surprised to see you were the one answering. We agreed to meet up for coffee at a place you said was one of your favorites, and I was too ashamed to let you know I think coffee, in general, is terrible agreed that sounds great. It was awkward at first when I disclosed my anti-coffee views and instead ordered a small mac n cheese, but you were a great sport.
If I am honest, I don't remember much about our conversation, but what I do remember is you were available, and it meant a lot to me. At that time in my life, I didn't have a lot of great things going on and felt like I just needed a human that wasn't trying to get something from me or wanting me to perform. I don't think we talked much after that, but that moment opened my eyes that church and community do exist. Thank you for starting The Line, and thank you for being a leader who can just sit and chat. That community was exactly what I needed at that point in my life.
